Jeremy & I had been talking for a while of taking some time to see his siblings. His brother lives in Michigan about an hour north of Detroit. He & his wife had a baby boy in November & we really wanted to meet him before he gets too much older. Jeremy's sister lives in Maryland about an hour south of Balitmore. Her husband is a chaplain at Andrews AFB. They have 3 kids: Meredith (6), Micaiah (4), & Meghan (turning 2 next month).
We learned that it would be cheaper for us to buy one-way tickets with Southwest Airlines & visit them both in one long trip. So that's what we did.
Our first stop was Michigan. We got in very late on Feb. 28. We left temperatures of the 70s in Texas to highs in the 30s in Michigan! Snow was fresh on the ground from the previous day but driving in it there is less of an issue because they actually plow the roads right away. But why should Texas invest in upkeep of numerous snowplows for that one inch we get each year?!
Most of the time was spent just relaxing & playing with the baby or driving around the area. Detroit was nothing worth seeing (so we were told) but where we visited north of the city was very nice. I hear it's beautiful in the summer!
Here are just a few pictures of our visit there:
Our little nephew, Lincoln. Isn't he a cutey?!

Our first real snowman. If you make one this big in Texas, you have to gather all the snow in your neighborhood.

Our first time sledding. It was a lot of fun!

That's Canada behind us! This was actually a "warm" day there. Got up close to 50. Ooooo!

We stayed here until March 5, where we then flew to Baltimore, MD. But that's for another post!
