Sell the house!

Jeremy & I made a big decision recently. We decided that we need to sell our house. And as of today it is on the market. I'd post a link but since it will show my address that's just a little too much personal information to give out.

This wasn't an easy decision to make. There were tears. This isn't our dream house by any means. It's very simple, nothing distinctive. We're way too close to our neighbors. But it's our first house. And that's special no matter what. So when we sell it & move it will be bittersweet.

As for what brought us to this decision, it's Dave Ramsey. We knew what his answer would be if we called into his radio show & explained our situation. We have debt. Not as much as what some of his callers have but it's there & we don't like it. We also know that we will likely be pulling out a loan for an adoption. That's another debt. And we know that we'll be down to one income & even without the debts, it'll be extremely tight for us. And we want to adopt more than once. So if we want to really pay off our debts, we have to sell the house & get rid of the mortgage.

What will be helping us even more is that once we sell the house we'll be moving into Jeremy's aunt & uncle's vacant house here. They retired last year & moved to east Texas but still have a house here that they intend to sell. So we've worked out an agreement where we will save a ton of money & we'll live there & help keep it up & fix it up so that once we can move out & get our own house again they can sell it quickly. So it's a blessing for us & them!

So now we just pray that this all happens quickly. We joked with the realtor that we expect him to sell the house in 60 days but in a way we're not kidding. The sooner we sell the house, the sooner we start saving money, which means the sooner we officially start the adoption process. So pray that there's a family looking for a 4 bedroom + study in one of the best school districts & fits right in our sale's price.
