LOST is back! (for now)

When the first season came out, we were just blown away. A plane crashes on a mysterious island & the survivors try to figure out where they are & how to leave. They hear weird roars in the woods & something apparently big like a monster out there. They come across polar bears. See people who are supposed to be dead. For X-Files fans like me & Jeremy, we were loving a new sci-fi show.

But then the show started getting frustrating. The introduced new characters that we didn't care about when we still wanted to know more about the original survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. And they were changing the personalities of the characters. They would give more & more questions with every episode but barely answering other questions.

By about halfway through last seasons the writers must have finally listened to fans & started to get their act together. We were getting good episodes. And best of all the producers announced that the show will end in May of 2010.

Now why does that make me happy? Because now we know they have an end in sight. And we can assume that they really do know what's going on with the island. The X-Files didn't do this. So the last couple seasons stunk & had a horrible ending because they just didn't seem to know how to end it. But if I have to be led along for 48 more episodes (*there's to be 16 episode for each of the final 3 seasons) but will in the end have all my questions answered, then that's ok with me. And knowing that J.J. Abrams, who's the creator of Lost, is also the one behind Cloverfield, gives me hope for this show to stay good.

The last season ended 8 months ago. And with the writer's strike going on & being limited to reruns & reality shows, Lost has a good chance to build back its audience. But because of the writer's strike, only 8 of the 16 episodes have been completed. So even if the strike ends tomorrow we won't get the rest of the season for quite a while. My hopes is we'll get the rest by the fall & then next January will start up the next season. We just can't take another long hiatus!

By the way, I do not intend on blogging every week about Lost. Wouldn't want to spoil it for those who don't watch it right away. But I wanted to at least get out my excitement for Lost coming back tonight!
