Another Running Update

Well, last Saturday was great & a milestone for me.

We went on our 5k run through a neighborhood by the park, mapped out as at a perfect 3.16 miles by Jeremy. And we managed to keep going without stopping to rest or stretch until we made it to the 2 mile marker! At first I thought Jeremy was crazy when he said to keep going. My calves were getting tight early on like always. But after passing the 1 mile marker I worked through the cramping & felt fine.

Only reason we had to stop was for a breather & because my right foot was falling asleep! I think my shoe laces were a little too tight. But even that stop wasn't really a stop because we kept walking till my foot "woke up" & then went right on. We completed the run in 48 minutes, a new record for us. Well, just me actually since Jeremy's done this before much better than me. But I appreciate him sticking with me.

This past week wasn't so good. First of all, we didn't have a lot of sleep for most of the week & blame Kaylee for this. She's had a cold or allergies & would sneeze in the middle of the night. Let me tell ya, a 80+ pound dog can sneeze really loud!

Secondly, we were working our part-time job more than before. Jeremy is taking his final semester of classes & will be able to graduate in December. But we've now learned that we have to have all balances paid prior to graduation. His work does reimburse it but not until he turns in grades. But if he doesn't get his grades until Dec. 17 & graduation is 2 days later, we won't get the money from work for another 2 weeks. So now we're working like crazy to try to pay it off without racking up credit cards or taking out a loan.

Anyway, I say all that to say that we didn't do any runs during the week. And we were tired from working.

So our run on Saturday wasn't too good. We made it half way & had to stop there. We started an hour later than planned because we over slept from being so tired, & having the hot Texas sun blazing on your face really sucks what little energy you have left in you.

So now our plan is to wake up extra early 2 mornings out of the week & go running before going to work.

Yep. We'll be up at 5am to go running.

I think I'm officially a runner now.

But with only 26 days until the 5k race we've gotta make some sacrifices if we want make a decent time.

And tomorrow will be our first early morning run.

Ugh.
