23 Weeks Pregnant!

How your baby's growing:

Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb.

I had another checkup this past week. And with this checkup I reached another milestone as far as my doctor is concerned. I finally got to have my routine prenatal bloodwork. This probably doesn’t sound like a big deal to most people. But this bloodwork is typically done at the first OB appointment. Mine was at 10 weeks. But my doctor has purposely held it off until he felt that the baby was doing well & right on schedule. He knows I’ve been poked so many times in the last 2 ½ years that I feel like a pin cushion. So it felt good to know that he’s feeling really good about how this pregnancy is going.

My due date isn’t changing despite the ultrasound. It’s staying at Feb. 7 based on my last, um, “cycle”. But Shaylin was measuring ahead for Feb. 4. But it’s so close that there’s no need to move it. She’s consistently been about 3 or 4 days ahead on all 3 sonograms . She’s my little over-achiever.
